For the last two years, Moroccan authorities have been cracking down on Islamic State (IS) fighters' returning from the battlefields in Syria and Iraq. While they have been accused of turning a blind eye to the departure of hundreds of volunteers to jihad in the early days of the conflict in 2012, authorities are now arresting returnees, fearing they would get involved in terrorist activities at home.

"The diggers encountered a hard rock on their way, and were therefore very careful to avoid any landslides or cracks," he said. "It took about five hours to get rid of the rock because the digging was slow and was done in a careful way to avoid creating cracks in the hole from below, which could threaten the life of the child as well as the rescue workers."

Police arrested the driver, Chelsea Sigsbury, 23, of Glen Avenue, and the passenger, Gina (Berry) Cellana, 43, of Francis Street. During the search of the vehicle and the passengers, police discovered a small amount of heroin, a crack pipe and prescription medications, Morocco said.

Sigsbury and Cellana both were charged with one count each of distribution of crack cocaine, possession of heroin, being present were heroin is known to be kept and a violation of a drug-free school or park zone (the River Street/Houghton Street playground). Berry was also charged with possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute.

Make indents with the back of a spoon and crack the eggs into the indents. I don't like covering my skillet since it produces a thin film over the yolks, but you can do that to make the eggs cook faster. Spoon some of the sauce onto the whites to help it cook. I like cooking my eggs to be runny, so that takes about 10 minutes. You can adjust this to your desired consistency!

The disparity is glaring, especially when considering that White people are actually more likely than Black people to use crack cocaine in their lifetimes. It subverts justice, undermines confidence in the criminal-legal system, and has disproportionately ripped apart Black families and devastated Black communities across the nation.

Just before passage of the FSA, 7.3 percent of people sentenced under the federal crack cocaine laws were White, while Black people made up 78.5 percent. Today, a harmful and racially discriminatory sentencing scheme persists. Post-FSA, 6.3 percent of people sentenced under these laws are White, while 77.1 percent are Black.

The Eliminating a Quantifiably Unjust Application of the Law (EQUAL) Act, which the House passed in September with an overwhelmingly bipartisan 361-66 vote, would complete the revisions made by the FSA more than a decade ago. It would eliminate the disparity between crack and powder cocaine altogether and make that change retroactive, providing an opportunity for redress to those serving excessively long sentences.

Groundwater is water that has infiltrated the ground to fill the spaces between sediments and cracks in rock. Groundwater is fed by precipitation and can resurface to replenish streams, rivers, and lakes.

Water that has travelled down from the soil surface and collected in the spaces between sediments and the cracks within rock is called groundwater. Groundwater fills in all the empty spaces underground, in what is called the saturated zone, until it reaches an impenetrable layer of rock. Groundwater is contained and flows through bodies of rock and sediment called aquifers. The amount of time that groundwater remains in aquifers is called its residence time, which can vary widely, from a few days or weeks to 10 thousand years or more.

This may sound controversial, but the BA test kitchen does not advocate for the use of ricotta cheese in lasagna. "It becomes dry and weirdly cracked at the surface," explains Morocco. Saffitz says her favorite cheese for lasagna is a grated, hard, aged cheese, like Parmesan. It adds a salty, nutty flavor. If you must use ricotta (we're not ones to tell your nonna no), combat dryness by beating it with egg, herbs, and salt and pepper before spreading it on the noodles.

Authoritarian regimes have used imprisonment to quash potential threats to power, with broad crackdowns in the region over the past years. No precise figure exists for the number of political prisoners currently held, but human rights monitors track the unjust arrests of state critics in the United Arab Emirates, journalists exposing corruption in Turkey, and human rights lawyers in Egypt. Even those who merely express religious, sexual, or other difference have been subject to arbitrary detention. U.S. citizens are not exempt: At least four Americans have been unfairly detained in Egypt, three in Saudi Arabia, and many others in Syria, Iran, and Turkey.

Test the soap or cleaner on a small patch first. Clean the top surface of the cracks and the surrounding leather using a soft, dry brush or cloth. Follow this with a small, fine-bristled brush and some mild soap and clean the cracks more deeply. The aim is to get the leather in a soft, flexible state.

After testing it on a small patch, smooth your conditioner or oil over the crack. A finger, sponge or back of a spoon does the trick: continue smoothing in the treatment until the crack is visibly less pronounced or deep. Wipe off the excess product and let the leather dry naturally. The leather needs time to absorb the conditioner and rehydrate so let it dry completely, preferably overnight.

Smooth the cracks with a piece of super-fine sandpaper, applying gentle pressure as you wear them down. Stop when you get a finish that looks smooth to the touch. Then wipe off any dust with a dry cloth. Tip: avoid harsher, coarse sandpaper as this can leave scratches.

This is to ensure the filler sets and solidifies. A properly ventilated room or the open air will help the leather to dry faster. However, avoid any direct sunlight and keep the leather away from direct heat as these factors can dry out the material causing further cracks. As the filler dries it may shrink, so further layer may be required.

To repair cracked leather, using a dye can patch up superficial damage, but for deep cracks a combination of a leather filler and dye works best. Tip: if the inside of a crack is lighter in colour than the surface using a dye is your best option.

Blend the cracks with several coats of dye if needed. Depending on the severity of the crack, up to five treatments may be required. With each treatment, dab the dye directly into the crack, then rub the surrounding area to blend them together. Dry the dye each time with a hairdryer.

Treating the cracks with a leather sealer helps to protect and condition the dye. Spray the sealer directly onto a sponge and rub into the affected area, applying a second coat as needed to cover the dye. This should help prevent any stains and further damage. Use a hairdryer on the sealant for two minutes to cure it, making sure to move the dryer back and forth over the crack.

And if the worst happens, remember there are effective steps you can take to fix cracked leather. The golden rule is to treat regularly. With a little patience and care, your prized leather will turn heads for seasons to come.

Parenteral infection is still the main form of HCV transmission, and an estimated 1.75 million new HCV infections occurred in the world in the year 2015 alone5. Persons that use illegal drugs are often exposed to increased risk of various infectious diseases, basically due to their behaviors and drug consuming habits, in addition to the risks and harms associated with the respective self-administration routes6,7,8,9. Various studies have reported high HCV prevalence rates, especially among people who inject drugs (PWID)10,11,12. As for non-injecting drug users (NIDU), who smoke, inhale, snort, or sniff substances like heroin, [powder] cocaine, and crack cocaine, for example, there are reports of higher HCV prevalence rates than in the general population, suggesting that there may be some other relevant form of transmission, despite persistent controversies on viral viability in straws and other self-administration paraphernalia in a context in which the risks of sexual transmission may be underestimated or imprecisely assessed13,14,15,16.

Table 2 shows the data on sociodemographic characteristics, substance use, risk behavior, and symptoms consistent with sexually transmitted infections, comparing cases and controls. Polydrug use was more frequent among HCV-positive individuals compared to those HCV-negative users (78.3% and 65.9%, respectively). Nearly two-thirds (62.7%) of HCV-positive individuals had used crack and/or similar drugs for more than 5 years, a statistically higher proportion than among HCV-negative individuals (52.5%). Among HCV-positive individuals, 40.3% reported having traded sex for drugs or money, compared to 27.5% in HCV-negative individuals, and the difference was statistically significant. Just over half (51.9%) of HCV-positive individuals reported having used injection drugs some time in life, a significantly higher proportion than the 13.0% in HCV-negative individuals (Table 2).

Some studies have found an association between length of crack use and increased risk of HCV infection21,25. However, in the current study, although the bivariate analysis suggested the relevance of this variable, the association did not remain in the final model. Likewise, no association was found between sharing crack-use paraphernalia and HCV infection, and no significant difference was identified in the report of this behavior when comparing HCV-positive and HCV-negative individuals. Fischer et al.15 conducted a study of 51 crack users in Toronto, Canada, with the aim of identifying HCV in the paraphernalia they used to consume the drug. The authors identified HCV in a crack pipe with a glass stem (connected to the pipe bowl) and suggested that HCV can be transmitted by sharing crack paraphernalia, and that such transmission may be modulated by the presence/absence of oral sores and the type of paraphernalia used to consume the drug. In Brazil, as shown in the National Crack Cocaine Survey26, most crack users recycle industrial plastic cups or bottles to smoke the drug, unlike observations in Toronto by Fischer et al.15, where most of the paraphernalia consisted of pipes and similar handmade devices. In addition, in the current study, oral and gingival sores were not associated with HCV infection, even in the bivariate analysis. 2ff7e9595c
